The chamotte reduces cracks and breakages caused by drying and firing contractions. It improves the permeability of the piece, facilitating the evacuation of water during drying and gases during firing.
Excellent for modeling and raku. For the wheel, it gives a very interesting textured finish although it can be a bit harsh for beginners.
